The one where writing copious grant proposals finally paid off...

I found out this week that I received one of the Garden Club of America's Coastal Wetland Studies Awards AND one of the three Tharp Fellowship awards offered by my department at USF! Combined, they total over $10,000 and the Tharp Fellowship comes with a tuition waiver, which means I don't have to TA this summer!!

Basically me right now.

This is a crazy relief as they will provide both the time (TAing takes at least 10-20 hours a week) and money I need to finally conduct some field-work this summer and maybe graduate in a reasonable amount of time, wooh!

In honor of not only celebrating successes, but failures as well (which I think science, especially, and the world, in general, should do more often), I want to mention I applied for both these grants last year and did not receive them.

Not to mention I also didn't get the GRFP last year, which took ages to write.

So, hopefully, if you're thinking "I can't possibly write one more grant because science no the WORLD — is against me" this goes to show how quickly the tides can turn. Keep writing!
